Leadership Coaching & Development
The Ashley Approach is an identity-centered coaching and consulting practice founded by Dr. Jacqueline D. Ashley. We partner with leaders, organizations, and institutions to translate self-awareness into decisive, human-centered leadership.
Our Mission
We believe leadership is a practice, not a title. Through coaching, curriculum, and conversation, we build the inner architecture leaders need to navigate complexity, hold their teams with care, and build organizations that reflect their values.
About the Founder
Founder & Principal Consultant, The Ashley Approach
Connect on LinkedInDr. Jacqueline Ashley is a leadership educator, consultant, and executive coach who partners with universities, corporations, and mission-driven organizations to design transformational leadership experiences rooted in clarity, identity, and impact.
As Founder of The Ashley Approach, Jacqueline leads a boutique consulting practice specializing in leadership development, curriculum design, and executive coaching. She has advised and coached leaders across higher education and corporate environments, including consulting and coaching engagements with California State Polytechnic University Pomona, where she supported faculty development and leadership growth through tailored learning experiences.
Jacqueline most recently served as Clinical Assistant Professor and Senior Curriculum Leader at Northwestern University, where she oversaw leadership curriculum, taught undergraduate and graduate courses, and integrated innovative approaches such as AI as a thought partner in leadership education. Her work spans designing scalable leadership programs, coaching students and professionals, and advancing inclusive leadership practices across disciplines.
Her national and institutional impact includes keynote speaking and facilitation with the National Society of Black Engineers, executive board service with the American Society for Engineering Education, invited talks at Northeastern University, and corporate leadership engagements with CIBC — bridging leadership theory with real-world application.
With a background that blends organizational leadership, public administration, and political science, Jacqueline brings a research-informed and practice-driven approach to her work. She is known for her signature Leadership Coach Approach — helping leaders think more critically, communicate more effectively, and lead with intention in complex environments.
Across every engagement, her work centers on one core belief: leadership is not just a skillset, but a practice of self-awareness, alignment, and purposeful action.
A grounded listening that holds every client with care.
Questions that surface clarity already living within you.
Insight converted into aligned, unmistakable action.

What We Offer
Six practice areas, one through-line: leadership that begins from a clear sense of self and ends in measurable change for the people you lead.
Choose the engagement that fits your needs and take the first step forward.
Proven Impact
Two engagements that show how identity-centered work translates into organizational change.
A newly promoted vice president was second-guessing her decisions and over-functioning across her team — a pattern that traced back to her relationship with authority, not to any gap in skill.
“She stopped negotiating with her own authority. Her team now meets her clearly — and so does she.”
Four principles guide every program we build — for universities, organizations, and leadership teams alike.
Before skills, before strategy, we begin with who the leader already is.
Every concept lands inside a real conversation, decision, or moment in the work.
We track the outcomes leaders and organizations actually care about.
Curriculum your team can actually teach, sustain, and adapt over time.
Dr. Ashley speaks to organizations, universities, and convenings on the questions leaders are sitting with right now. Every keynote is shaped to your audience and the moment they are leading through.
